The friendly Mt Baw Baw Snowsports team are here to deliver ski and snowboard lessons that help you improve whether it is your first time on the slopes or you’re perfecting those tricky manoeuvres.

Rowdy's Rippers

Skiing (3 – 6 years) (Group Lesson)

Your children will love the sense of independence and joy they get from our Rowdy’s Rippers ski classes, specially created with small class sizes and learning techniques geared toward the tiniest skiers.

Private Lessons

Ski & Snowboard 

A private lesson with our qualified instructors means you’ll have the best opportunity to fine tune your skills. Have a lesson on-on-one or add up to 5 extra people.

  • Cost – $240 per 1 person, additional $100 per extra person
  • Group Size – Max 6
  • Ability – First timer (Level 1), Beginner (Level 2), Intermediate (Level 3) or Advanced (Level 4) Available

What’s my skiing or snowboarding level?

Rate your own ability by identifying what you can do confidently. If you can do everything on the list with ease you move up to the next level. e.g. if you can’t “wedge parallel” you remain on the “Beginner” level.

Ski Skills Progression

Level 1 – First Time Skiier

You:

  • Know your equipment, know how to skate, can demonstrate basic stance and straight running
  • Can ride the Magic Carpet.
  • Know the Mountain Responsibility Code (Safety on the slopes).

Level 2 – Beginner Skiier

You:

  • Can demonstrate stopping, direction change, standing up by yourself and speed control.
  • Know the Mountain Responsibility Code (Safety on the slopes)

Level 3 – Intermediate Skiier

You:

  • Can ride lifts (platter / button drag lifts)
  • Can demonstrate an S-Turn and wedge parallel
  • Can demonstrate beginner park skills*

*optional learning path

Level 4 – Advanced Skiier

You:

  • Can ski full parallel, demonstrate proper technique such as physical stance, rolling of edges, separation, skiing backward.
  • Understand ski performance i.e. flexion and extension,
  • Can demonstrate more advanced park skills*

Snowboard Skills Progression

Level 1 – First Time Snowboarder

You:

  • Know your equipment
  • Can demonstrate basic skating (one foot), stance, side slipping on heel-side or toe-side and safe falling.
  • Know the Mountain Responsibility Code (Safety on the slopes)

Level 2 – Beginner Snowboarder

You:

  • Can demonstrate skating and heel-side and toe-side direction change (one foot)
  • Can demonstrate heel-side AND toe-side side slipping,  “falling leaf” and garlands
  • Know the Mountain Responsibility Code (Safety on the slopes)

Level 3 – Intermediate Snowboarder

You:

  • Can ride lifts (platter / button drag lifts)
  • Can demonstrate more confident garlands, C-turns, Basic S-turn
  • Can demonstrate beginner park skills*

*optional learning path

Level 4 – Advanced Snowboarder

You:

  • Demonstrate full S-turns (open and closed), technique (such as physical stance, rolling of edges, separation, riding switch, carving)
  • Understand snowboard physics (i.e. flex)
  • Can demonstrate advanced park skills*
