We have developed a new and exciting guided walk to Mushroom Rocks!

The ‘Boulders Walk’ commences at Mt Baw Baw Village and meanders through the Baw Baw National park to the iconic Mushroom Rocks and finishes at Mt Erica car park.  The unique alpine and sub-alpine terrain is characterised by twisted snow gums, giant granite boulders, fern scattered valleys, towering mountain ash and alpine meadows.  Stunning wildflowers come into bloom during the warmer months and scatter the alpine plains.  Spectacular views across the Alps and Gippsland can be enjoyed from a number of lookouts along the journey.

The summits of Mt Baw Baw, Mt St Phillack, Talbot Peak and Mt Erica will be visited en route however the highlight of the day is of course the iconic Mushroom Rocks.  Nestled on the southern face of Mt Erica, the magnificent formation of granite boulders is aw- inspiring and will take your breath away. 

The six hour walk is challenging at times and requires a reasonable level of fitness.  Groups will be accompanied by an experienced guide with extensive knowledge about the local flora, fauna, history and the natural environment.  Our guides have extensive first aid training and have the skills required to cope with medical emergencies.   

A vehicle will be waiting at the Mt Erica car park to transport you back to Mt Baw Baw.  On return to Mt Baw Baw you will have the opportunity to enjoy a well-earned spa in the beautiful Rock Spa Pool before enjoying a delicious Celebratory Dinner with the group at Village Central Restaurant.

Day one

9am- Depart Mt Baw Baw Village with experienced guide.  Follow the Alpine Trail to the summits of Mt Baw Baw, Mt St Phillack, Talbot Peak and Mt Erica.  Enjoy a picnic lunch along the way and afternoon tea at the spectacular Mushroom Rocks.

3:30pm- Transfer from Mt Erica car park back to Mt Baw Baw.  Arrive at Mt Baw Baw Village and unwind in the beautiful Rock Spa Pool.  Celebrate the day’s achievement with the group and share a delicious meal at Village Central Restaurant overlooking West Gippsland and the Mornington Peninsula.  Stay overnight at Mt Baw Baw.

Day two

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before further exploring beautiful Mt Baw Baw or heading home.

The ‘Boulders Walk’ is available between 1^st Nov and Easter.  A minimum of 4 people per group is required and bookings must be made at least two weeks in advance.  Some dates may be unavailable due to unavailability of Guide.
